Now for some words from the Honor Guard Commander:
The Honor Guard Needs Your Help. We are recruiting for Honor Guard Members. Come and join our team and represent our Nation, State, Community and American Legion Post 219 by proudly being a members of our Honor Guard. Support the mission of the American Legion by advocating patriotism, honor, and continued devotion to our fellow service vetereans and their family. Theh Honor Guard members perform as a unit at varioius veteran and patriotic events. At these events, the Honor Guard may carry the American, POW/MIA, State and Legion flags. A rifle excort is always included when escorting the American flag. The Honor Guard also perform funeral services for our fallen veterans in support of their family at the local huneral homes or at the National Cemetery. Any Legion, Auxiliary, SAL, or Riders are welcomed to join. Prior military service is not required to join our team. We will train you. Basic requirements: Ability to stand, walk, carry a flag, and/or carry a ceremonial rifle. It would be helpful for our veterans to recall face and marching commands from their Military Training,, but not necessary. Knowledge of rifle commands also would be beneficial, again not necessary. We willl provide training and uniforms. Contact information: de1ang@comcast.net, 443-752-5375 and leave a message if the Honor Guard Commander can’t take your call. There is also a signup shee on the American Legion 219’s Bulletin Board. Respectfully Marty Myers, Honor Guard Commander.
